Posted on: November 1, 2006

Selma, Al. — Wallace Community College Selma announced the 2006-07 women's basketball schedule today. To kick off the season the Lady Patriots travel to Eunice, LA on Friday to participate in a four team tournament held at Louisiana State University Eunice. Bevill State College, Louisiana State University Eunice, Mississippi Gulf College, and Wallace Community College Selma are all scheduled to play in the two day tournament.

The Lady Patriots spend the next two weeks on the road, playing at Meridian Community College (Meridian, MS.) (Nov. 8) and Shelton State (Nov. 11) before hosting Meridian CC at home on Nov. 15, at 6:00 pm for the first home game.

In her third year as the WCCS's Lady Patriots women's basketball coach, Antoinette Blevins is gearing her team up for a run at the state tournament. With 6 returning sophomores (4 of them starters) and a young talented class, Blevins is expecting improved play with a deeper roster from her 2005-06 team.

Last year the Lady Patriots finished third in the South Division of the Alabama Community College Conference. Wallace recorded an overall record of 12-17 last year but, finished 10-4 in conference play.

"Our main goal is to win the conference," Blevins said. "We came close last year but, we're looking forward to winning it all, especially with our recent signees."

Following a home contest against Snead State (Nov. 18), the Lady Patriots travel to Lawson State (Dec. 2), play back to back home games versus Wallace- Hanceville (Dec. 9) and Lawson State (Dec. 11). They close the first half of the season versus Gadsden State on Dec. 16 in Gadsden, AL.
